Lubricate the hinge runners on the window frame also. The best way to prolong the life of your hinges, locks and lockstrips is to keep them oiled. All you need is a lubricating oil, such as WD40 for example, and use this on all of the moving parts of the hinge / lock / lockstrip on your door or window about once every couple of months. The keeps, the part the locking sections lock into, should be oiled also, even though they are not moving parts it does help to keep them lubricated.

For people in seafront areas it is advisable to lubricate more often (about once a month) due to the effects of the salt air - especially with windows if they are left open regularly.
