The Fascia is the timber at the edge of the roofline, where the tiles end and your guttering fastens to. The soffit is the underside of the fascia which fastens to your homes' brickwork.

There are 2 ways to repair problems that occur with your Fascia's or soffits :

Clad Over : This entails leaving your existing timberwork in place and installing the uPVC over the top. Some installers consider this to be 'Cowboyish' behaviour, but that is not the case, as it is a far more cost effective way of repairing.

Full Replacement : As suggested this entails taking away all the Timber Fascia and soffits and replacing them with uPVC ones. As a rule we also take away the first 3 rows of roof tiling, as we tend to fnd the felt has gone rotten underneath. When you take away the timber Fascia an thicker 18mm uPVC Fascia must be used, this is to adhere to buildings regulations.

Guttering is self explanatory, attached to the Fascia and runs along the roof, down a wall and into a drain.
