Under Building Control Regulation you are guaranteed that your windows will be correct even though you will have to pay the council a fee of between £50 and £200. Unfortunately they won’t do this for nothing but think of it this way, complete piece of mind that on the day you hand over your hard earned cash you will know that your windows have been installed to your local council’s satisfaction and not scheme from London.

Some of the regulations that have to be adhered to are:

No openers in any one window must equate to anything less than 1/20 of the floor space of that room.
Any ground floor opener must be fitted with trickle ventilation and “night latch” capability.
All window must have Pilkington K energy efficient glazing.
Toughened Safety glass as and where required, please see diagram.
Fire escape capability openers, at least one upstairs, in some cases two or more are required.
A minimum five point locking system to all doors.
Steel reinforcement to all doors.
Reinforced uPVC Panels with toughened safety glass if required.
